Reflections On Our Life in Jesus Christ

Today’s Bible Reading (from Biblegateway.com): Job 20-21; Acts 10:24-48
Wednesday’s: Job 22-24; Acts 11

Just recently I paid a tidy sum of moolah to have a doggy door installed in my back door.  It began as a wish.  It matured into a plan.  It culminated when the company with which I contracted, installed it several weeks ago.  Problem solved…I thought!

No more getting up from my comfortable chair to open the door to allow for my dogs to go out and come back in.  No more flies, mosquitoes, and various other insects entering the house when I opened the door for the dogs.  On several occasions I would just leave the door ajar so I wouldn’t have to get up again to let the dogs in, and the chicken would come in the house.

So yeah, problem solved!  Ha!  Several weeks have passed and I’m still jumping up from the chair to either let the dogs out or back in – albeit, through the doggy door – but still helping them figure out this new contraption in the door.  Could these dogs really be this dense?  Why didn’t I just buy a hamster as a pet?

Like my two doggy-door-challenged mutts, there are a number of people in this ol’ world who just haven’t figured out how to come through the Door that leads to eternal life.  They’ve heard about Him.  They may have even been shown how to come through the Door.  But they just can’t quite bring themselves to take that step through the Door.  Whether it’s fear, pride, stubbornness, lack of understanding, or any number of other issues, the Door is always available, but sadly so few choose to go through Him (John 10:7-9).
