Reflections On Our Life in Jesus Christ

Today’s Bible Reading (from Biblegateway.com): Psalm 49-50; Romans 1
Wednesday’s: Psalm 51-53; Romans 2

On my way to speak in Century, Florida on Wednesday night last, I passed a sports complex of well-manicured ballfields.  What struck me about the scene was how bleak they looked.  Not a single ballfield was being utilized to fulfill its purpose.  A wave of loneliness washed over me.  Or perhaps it was a feeling of squandering.  I just know how sad it made me feel to observe something that had been so meticulously groomed and so well-maintained seemingly going to waste.  I hope and continue to pray that children and adults alike will, sooner as opposed to later, be able to continue socializing and engaging in everyday activities once again.

As I reflected on the vacant ball diamonds, my thoughts quickly shifted to people’s lives.  How many individuals are in the same condition and situation as those ballfields?  From what we witness on the exterior, neatly manicured and well-kept.  But on the inside, that same individual is lonely and wondering what life is all about.  “Why I am here?  What’s my purpose in life?  Am I just wasting space on this planet?”  Thank and praise God that as a child of His we know what our purpose in life is – to bring Him glory and honor in all we do!  May He grant us the wisdom, strength, and discernment of how to best use our gifts and opportunities to serve Him as we serve others.
