A few days ago I was outside working in the yard. It was one of those spring-like days in which the breeze was blowing at a pretty good clip. I was standing close to a tree when I suddenly felt something on the back of my head. My first thought was that a spider or an insect had fallen out of the tree onto the back of my head. Or maybe it was a leaf that had been blown off the tree from the rather stiff wind. I felt the back of my head, expecting to feel a bug or a leaf, but there was nothing there but hair! Could it be? Had I just experienced a sensation that I hadn’t felt in years? It had to be! It was! I hadn’t been on the receiving end of a hair cut in so long that I could feel the wind blowing through my hair! Praise the Lord and pass the Brylcreem!
See! It is true that if we will look for the good in any situation, we can find some. Yes, we are growing weary with the quarantine. I sorely miss seeing my church family. I had to cancel a trip to see my daughter and grandkids. I miss watching live golf on the telly. O.k., I lost you on that one. But you get the point. The coronavirus is terrible. It has caused a great deal of death. About the same number of people who succumb to the flu every year. And we have been, and will continue to be, inconvenienced. We have concern about loved ones who have contracted the virus. But even through all this, God is still good! All things still work together for good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28). We are still called as children of God to think on positive, lovely things – things worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8). Like the feeling of the wind blowing through your hair.
